In my opinion, after Justice abandoned the sound that they created for their Grammy nominated debut album, Cross, it seemed like they left an empty space that no one has been able to fill. After 11 years of waiting, I think that a possible contender has come along to fill that void. Renato Cohen's new EP, Duke of Weird, establishes the Brazilian DJ as someone to look out for.

I honestly did not know what to expect from Michael Mayer, but as soon as it was made aware to me that his production quality and sound is reminiscent of Hot Chip, I had to take a listen. I mean his first track titled “We Like to Party” gives you an idea of what kind of music the German producer Michael Mayer is so fond of.

This track rocks. It's upbeat, fun, and really pushes dancing and housey music while incorporating a little bit of dubstep. I like it a lot, recommended for harder-dubsteppy type shows. Beat sounds good. Has potential to get pretty big. Play this!!!!

Look at the cover of the album, and you’ll think that this is an album filled with soft, acoustic folk tracks, but on the contrary, this album fits smack dab into the dance and house genre. “Sally Shapiro”, which is the pseudonym for the anonymous singer of the album, has an ethereal voice that contrasts to the tinkering and beat filled instrumental. In many ways, her voice mellows out the otherwise upbeat tracks. There are hints of an outdated 80’s soundtrack in some of the songs, but it’s all a part of the “Italo disco” vibe that Sally Shapiro is known for.

Flight Facilities is getting into the disco genre but not quite the raunchy stuff yet. This band mixes the perfect blend of modern disco and electro to create relaxing upbeat music to bop you head to. The singers featured in songs fit well if not make the song extremely awesome. With this pop, chill, and dancey combo, you won't know whether to stand up or not. Play it.
