This is a catchy beachy pop album! The songs are fun, and not overproduced, making a nice summery rock album. Track 1, Come Undone, is catchy and fun with a nice build up which sounds like something you would listen to while driving around. The track, Savannah, is catchy with beatles vibes, that just makes you want to dance around. Overall, this is a sold album with fun beachy songs if you are looking for something that will make you want to be on a beach in the summertime.

Living Hour is fresh off of bandcamp and are filled with summer hazey tuneage. The whole album has a really good flow, I enjoyed having it as background music for cooking and studying. Word of warning though, each song is like a long joy-trip, at least five to seven minutes long. Living Hour feel very similar to Beach House, with the skuzzy guitars, surf-like riffs, and warped sounds looming in the background. The vocals were dreamy, haunting, but poppy. I would suggest tracks six and seven, Mind Goodbyes and Miss Emerald Green.

It's kinda funny that the first time I heard this band's music was off of one of those music channels on satellite tv while chilling in a hot tub. This music fits that mood pretty perfectly to me. It's exactly what you wanna listen to when you're unwinding in a hot tub. But DIIV has been around since 2011 and has consistently put out amazing music and this is no exception. Great album to listen to if you are looking to chill out to some groovy tunes.

Nico Marks

Nico Marks claims his album is a mixture of California and Jamaica culture, but his album is really just surf music. The album is very minimal in terms of traditional reggae themes and style. His most reggae song is "One of Those" which sounds oddly similar to the surf rock band Sublime. His songs are unusually focused on women and capalist gains. It appears that Nico created a decent album, albeit nonon-reggae or world album. This isn't a bad album, by any means. It was actually quite enjoyable to listen to, but disappointing in terms of world music.

Rocket 3's sound is definitely appealing to teenage girls, which is weird because the band is 2/3 male and 3/3 middle-aged. If I were just looking at a picture of them, I would not have expected them to sound like La Sera and the Dum Dum Girls, but they do. They encapsulate that sound of a cutesy girl who just wants to hang out by the pool and soak up the rays while gossiping with her girlfriends about boys. This album is just the right combination of aggressive and poppy, with bouncy yet grungy chord progressions and alternatingly dark and bubbly female vocals.

The Aquadolls are a self-proclaimed group of mermaids making light, pretty sea-grunge-pop, and it totally works. I haven't been able to stop listening since I first heard their last EP. Fronted by head mermaid 19-year-old Melissa Brooks, the California bunch is making waves (get my mermaid/beach reference? waves? lol) in the beach pop scene.  You may say, oh man, another beach-pop girl-group Best Coast sound. However, this doesn't come off as repetitive. It may not be the newest thing on the block, but it's damn good. What makes it stand out, you ask?

I will always be a Best Coast fan. If you were craving some new Best Coast surf pop sad girl tunes, you're in luck. Bethany and Bobb can't let you down. Nothing's too new or ground breaking here, but I consider Best Coast ground breaking in her genre. She definitely was one of the front runners of California surf-pop and continues to hold her crown. Again, nothing too out there on this mini album, released on Bethany's new label Jewel City, but it's still great. I've listened to it multiple times and it'll fit in happily with my surf playlist.
