Arizona Defense Key to Homecoming Victory

This Saturday marked the 100th homecoming for the University of Arizona and there were plenty of fans and alumni around to celebrate the occasion. On this night the Arizona defense is the reason of any celebration that takes place in Tucson.

At the beginning of the season all of the discussion was about Arizona's offense and all the talent the Wildcats had on that side of the ball, but with three games left in the season it is the defense that is receiving the recognition and is largely responsible for the success the Wildcats have had lately.

Cardic Cats finally experience heartache

This game was like many before it, Arizona struggled early but capitalized on some big plays late in the game and finished strong. Unfortunately their strong finish last night came up just short against a very tough and talented USC team. In fact it came up wide right, as kicker Casey Skowron pushed a last second field goal wide right effectively ending the game with a final score of 28-26.

Wildcats Win a Close One at Home

The University of Arizona rode the back of freshman running back Nick Wilson and the arm of redshirt freshman Anu Solomon to a 35-28 win over the University of Nevada last night.
In front of a loud and raucous crowd the Wildcats improved their record to 3-0 and continued to gain much needed experience as they begin Pac-12 Conference competition next at home against the University of California.

No More Norv

Norv Turner needs to be shown the door, for reasons beyond the San Diego Chargers' Monday night meltdown against the Denver Broncos. Anyone who thinks he will someday lead them to a Super Bowl title is out of his or her mind.

In 2007 he inherited a roster loaded with talent, only to mar it in the almost four and a half seasons he has been San Diego's head coach. One of the main reasons for the Chargers' recent disappearance from postseason play is Turner's failure to produce first round draft picks into the players the organization hope they become.

Week Four Top 25 PAC-12 Picks

My week four predictions for PAC-12 football programs in the top 25 rankings:

22 Arizona (3-0) @ 3 Oregon (3-0) - Arizona football is on fire right now, but I don't think all the momentum they have going into this game will result in a Wildcats' victory. Oregon, 52-35.

California (1-2) @ 13 USC (2-1) - Well, Matt Barkley failed yet again to beat Stanford. But hey, Peyton Manning could never beat Florida! I think Barkley takes his anger from last weekend out on Cal, en route to a 42-31 Trojans' victory.

The Arizona Wildcats football team opened the season in front of a crowd of 48,670, by squeaking out a 24-17 overtime victory at home against the Toledo Rockets.
