After a five year gap filled with inter-band collaborations, everyone’s favorite Glaswegian rock band is back, and boy oh boy is their return a welcome one. Paraphrasing Alternative Music Director Andrew Boring – Franz Ferdinand is a band that sounds the same on every album, but that also makes every album sound different. I wholeheartedly agree, and Always Ascending is no different.

This is a really fun album with a variety of compositions and techniques that form a unique collection of tracks. Some songs do sound a bit old-timey with the emphasis on techno and disco-pop, but it's not boring and is something people of this generation and older generations can enjoy together. Hercules and Love Affair also addresses different musical genres and themes in one album. He has put his own EDM twist on gospel music, R&B and has a unique collaboration with Mashrou' Leila, a Lebanese band.
