27-year-old, singer-songwriter, actress, and dancer, Hayley Kiyoko is out with her debut album “Expectations”, released on March 30, and IT IS PERFECT.  You may know her as Stevie from the Disney channel show Wizards of Waverly Place, Stella from the Disney channel original movie Lemonade Mouth, or Velma from the live-action Scooby Doo movie. Well now she’s all grown up and blonde! I was already a big fan of hers before I knew she was coming out with an album.

Did somebody say "party"? No? Well, Andrew W.K. definitely did. For example, the lyrics of the first song, "The Power of Partying", is composed of only the word "partying." What this album lacks in seriousness it makes up with feel good vibes and music. Andrew W.K. is genuinely a fun guy who oozes positivity and this album similarly reflects the creator's personality.

Goldfrapp's "Lovely Head" was the song that introduced them to the world. That song and a long history of occasional skim-throughs of their reviews had led me to believe that all their songs traded in downtempo electronics, trip hop, and folk. I've never been enamored with "Lovely Head", and so I thought they weren't for me. Imagine my surprise when I heard this new song, which some might classify as a "banger". It's a driving, catchy, synth pop track where fat slabs of synth that purr and slide, underneath ethereal vocals.

Listen to this album if you want to be eternally frustrated by the seeming lack of any tune or predictable pattern. She sings the words either completely smashedtogetheratonce or distinctly, like a robot, and there is no way of determining which will be sang which way. It doesn't make much sense, and I was waiting the whole time for the album to be over.
