There is a difference between substance and exploiting the current political strife as a central theme in an incredibly hollow, lackluster song. Arcade Fire's newest single, "I Give You Power," is a shining example of this difference. I am a long time Arcade Fire fan. They were probably the first band that I truly fell in love with. The band has a special place in my heart and always will. That being said, I am incredibly disappointed in the lack of musical talent put forth into "I Give You Power."

This song starts out very fast-paced and just keeps going. I honestly could not understand most of the lyrics. The electronic beats were catchy, but the lack of vocals took getting used to. I am hesitant to label this as dance music, but I am not sure what else to classify it as. Trying to just review three minutes of material is tough, so I will just say I spent most of the three minutes just trying to understand the rhythm patterns and identify the lyrics.

The Wombats, formed in 2003, is a British indie rock band.  This CD is worth the listen solely for the clever and funny lyrics.

Three years after the release of LCD Soundsystem's "Sound of Silver," my expectations were perhaps unreasonably high for anything that followed, but rightfully so. The predecessor of "This Is Happening" was without question, a near-flawless release. Although this album is decent in its own right, it still leaves a bit to be desired and can take a few listens to truly begin enjoying (at least it did for this listener).
