The Man on the cover is really in love with the songs on this record, and you should be too, its weird, its uncomforatable, its goofy, but damn if it doesnt sound good. the interplay between the male and female vocals gives the same feeling you get when someone vigorously rubs your hair the wrong way then the right way, it is an experience that says independent, they are their own sound even if they do have strong similarities to Dios soothing and entrancing Synth beats.

This album is a strange combination of Mellow coffeeshop and post 90s pop with the mellow background of coffeeshop and the vocals of the falsetto based male styling so common these days. The lilting guitar scaling and subtle drum changes give the albums the interesting texture needed in any song while the vocals define the genre as Alternative Indie Pop instead of 1950’s surf with an edge. The album is easy to tune in or out giving it the quintessential coffeehouse vibe, as such I suggest playing a track from it on low volume as you talk.

Coast Modern is American duo Luke Atlas and Coleman Trapp’s self-titled debut album after having released several noted singles such as Hollow Life (2015) and Animals (2016). All of the tracks and their singles leading up to Coast Modern consist of funky, psychedelic-like California vibes, which really defines their style. This 18-track album is sure to satisfy all listeners as it showcases their wide range of styles and beats. Overall would recommend to any alt-pop enthusiast or anyone interested in some modern hip-hop influenced electro-indie rock.

Ya Veran, a two-track LP from QUITAPENAS is tropical rock from start to finish. “Ya Veran” combines garage rock-esque vocals with powerful percussions and psychedelic guitars. The song explores the beauty of people’s shapes, sizes, and colors in an upbeat 3-minute track. The longer of the two tracks, “La Bestia” harkens back to the golden age of 60s and 70s Latin afro-funk and according to the band warns of the dangers people face crossing the border through the lyrics.

Somersault is Beach Fossil’s third studio album based off of life in New York. Each song is simple in that it doesn’t contain many lyrics, but is still catchy and satisfying to listen to. This album is very mellow and lo-fi like with Dustin Payseur’s chill vocals and the airy background accompaniment. Compared to their other albums, Somersault seems to focus more on the vocals but still has the dynamic guitar in its framework, which enables them to keep their distinct sound. Every track is unique, yet complementary, making the album sound cohesive.

Releasing their second studio album, Antisocialites, it is the ultimate whimsical and eclectic indie/pop mix. The way Molly Rankin sings makes the songs on this album feel very dreamy and ethereal-like. In my opinion, this studio album of Alvvays sounds like it went through a Japanese/Californian phase because of the prevalent guitar and drums accompaniment, as well as the synthetic-like upbeat rhythm. Each track sounds similar yet are distinct in their own ways, with varying tempos offering a wide range of tunes, making the album sound cohesive and versatile.
