Rhymesayers Entertainment

The combination of an original rhyme sayer (Musab) and seasoned producer (Ink Well) prove that there is power in combinations. this combo in particular is a brilliant creative explosion of beats, bars and true shit spit over great music that at times sounds like hip hop at times jazz, some blues hints and references but also some afro beat and Latin groove mixed in, even some 80's techno funk hip hop creeps its influences into the mix not to mention all of this comes all of this with an impressive vocabulary.

I love the album artwork, it represents the music well by having texture, futuristic visuals and color. It is very groovy, a bit jazzy at times.

Though The Bushwick Hotel is not literally a place of respite, the band's lively spirit, sonically eclectic elements, and bright elements will put hearts, minds, and ears at ease. From Brooklyn, New York, the band calls on inspiration from the likes of Elvis Costello, Band of Horses, David Bowie, The Band, and Van Morrison. July 28th by Carina is hard to place on the music spectrum. The string instruments mixed with organs and drums carry a country-esque vibe, but the vocals are breathy and jazzy in a way that is definitely not country. Perhaps "blues." I suppose this is in the realm of coffee shop music, but it's got enough varied instrumentations to be more complex than a simple singer/songwriter with a guitar.

10isee Williams, the Seattle- based Hip Hop artist with a rather clever name, released his debut album on October 10th, 2015, illustrating what it is like to be up and coming from the ground up. The album is entitled Gorilla Warfare, and throughout his laidback lackadaisical flow, 10isee Williams is able to brush upon topics like politics and race via a production team that was able to implement beats reminiscent of the trip-hop elements of Mac Miller’s Delusional Thomas or Faces.

This album is very hard to explain because it contains everything under the sun. The album starts off very ethereal, with it’s opening track “I saw you in the Truth”. It then switches to a very beach-pop vibe, and it keeps going from there. The nice thing about The Parlor’s “Wahzu Wahzu” album is that you never really know what the next song is going to sound like. There could be jazzy elements, there could be a very folky feel, or there could be a mix of both.

My Idea of Fun

Stage Hands are a duo with roots in multimedia and conceptual art, and this short self-titled LP is their first release. Their background in avant-garde art doesn't come through in the music too much, but this still isn't a conventional electronic album. The opening self-titled track is airy and piano-centric, and just a clicky, rolling beat away from actual ambient music.

One cannot dive into Shining On by Ron Littllejohn & The Funk Embassy with very high expectations. It's not an amazing record, in fact it sounds like a local outfit of middle aged friends who play the local coffeeshop on weekends, but it does have a few surprisingly decent tracks. If you lower your expectations, they catch you off guard and leave you pleasantly surprised. It's not the funkiest album by any means, but the decently groovy basslines are the highlight of the record and the horns and guitars are also very well done.

This album is about...SEX! Look at the track titles!! It honestly sounds like the background music to a porno. Low, lounge-like background beats under minimal, super changed vocals. A few of the tracks have a more dub/glitch background sound. Some of the snapier tracks sound like they came from the 80s, and kind of like the new Chromeo album except with fewer lyrics and less catchy. Spin it if you want a suave sound to your show or you want to GIT IT ON!
