I fell in love with Glass Animals when they came out with their first album Zaba. Their sound is quite literally gooey on their first album. However, this one evolves their sound in the best way possible. The beats make you want to bob and gyrate along with the rhythm, and the melodies make these songs absolute earworms. They stay true to their style with distorted and layered vocals, and catchy hooks. Unfortunately this copy of How to Be a Human Being is not clean, and so some of the best songs cannot be played due to FCC violations.

Guided Meditation is the 3rd EP from Philadelphia based power-pop band Hurry. The album lives up to it’s name, all the songs on this EP are incredibly zen like and relaxing.

Hum

Artist:
Eerie Wanda
Label:
Beyond Beyond Is Beyond

When picking up this album, I thought it would be some weird, creepy-sounding music, given the band's name, but Hum is anything but dark. Eerie Wanda's lead vocalist, Marina Tadic, has such a sweet, near-ethereal and enchanting voice that suits this album perfectly. Just her voice alone makes me want to fall in love with her; she could soothe me to sleep. This is a release full of chill-vibes and fun melodies; versatile and perfect for a myraid of listening opportunities: romantic date night, lounging around, to hanging out on a sunny day at the park.

I first listened to this album while hammocking outside on my front porch and it is just perfect for that. Katy Goodman's Music For Listening To Music To is the first of her four EPs to feature male vocalist and bassist, Todd Wisenbaker (Katy Goodman's husband!). Wisenbaker's appearance allows for some of the songs to become awesome, sweet duets, while still emulating the classic summer beach vibe that the past La Sera releases have.

Sofie Winterson hails from Amsterdam, and is still fairly new on the music scene.
Her newest release, a three-song EP entitled KIDS, is pretty good. The songs
have a lot of synth-based layers of instrumentation, resulting in an ethereal vibe.
I think that it is good background music; I could see it playing in a hip coffee shop
or an overpriced boutique. Unfortunately, it's not anything I would crave to hear over and over

Lola Marsh’s EP “You’re Mine” is a beautiful, open sounding collection of four songs. This due from Tel Aviv creates ethereal beats and soaring choruses that are truly wonderful. The title track, “You’re Mine” stands out immediately, but all of the tracks are very good. “Sirens” sounds like it could be in a western while the cowboys are riding off into the distance. This song was their first single, and it immediately caught listener’s attention and put them on the map.

Tacocat’s newest album Lost Time is kind of what you expect from Tacocat which is some good catchy pop punk. There are some songs that really kick ass on this album like I Hate the Weekend and You Can’t Fire Me, I Quit.  But then there are some songs I really didn’t like at all like Plan A, Plan B, which was just not catchy and too fast. And there were other tracks like Talk that just felt like filler because it didn’t really make an impact on me at all. So to conclude this yeah there are some good tracks but then there are some that are just ehhhhhhh.

Bleached are an all girl pop rock trio that kicks ass and their newest album Welcome the Worms does not disappoint. This album is full of energy and catchy lyrics all the way through the album. So if you are into music made by three chicks that shred and make some catchy ass songs I think this album is for you. On this album there are a few songs that really really good like: Keep on Keepin’ On and Wasted on You. So if you haven’t listened to them before you should listen to those two tracks and I promise you that you will get hooked.

This new single from STRFKR is their first release in three years, and it sounds like STRFKR--but don't mistake my tone for jaded. This track is bubbly and infectious, with a groovy bass line and fun synth melodies. It simply reminisces the late twentieth century from which disco pop originates, rather than trying to imitate it, which keeps it palatable. It's not the most artistically deep or technically prolific track of 2016, but it's fun as hell.
