Back in January, DROELOE released a single called "Backbone", a dance track that mixed minimalist beats with a complex chorus, and delivered a "tough love" message. Now DROELOE is back with "Many Words", a new single that takes their music in a different direction than their previous effort, and shows that they are not held down by only one style.

Hazey Eyes is back with their second EP, Some Reason; and it is an interesting journey that appears quick and simple, but actually has so much complexity behind it. The title track, which also happens to be the opener, introduces itself with a soft pianos and blippy synths (kind of like the style Owl City found on Ocean Eyes). This sound, found all throughout the song, definitely feels familiar...and actually does convey a hazy feeling. So I guess I could say that Hazey Eyes certainly lives up to their name.

Imagine you're starring in an indie rom-com taking place in Southern California; its the classic boy-meets-girl story, and you reach the point in the movie where you and your new beau are spending a whirlwind day at the Santa Monica Pier, a montage of cotton candy, amusement park rides, and the beach. The Fontaines are sort of that feeling - that rom com, doo-wop, fun and breezy feeling of new (and spoiled) love. Fontaines II offers up an infective blend of sunny, fresh indie pop tunes - as they call it, "New-Wop".

Real Estate is one of my favorite bands of all time and one of few buzz bands that have really stood the test of time and consistently put out great records in my opinion. "Talking Backwards" is the first single off their upcoming album Atlas and showcases a much more mature and refined Real Estate. They have abandoned the muggy, lo-fi sound of their earlier records in favor for a pristenely polished recording quality which suits their more grown-up songwriting and sound.

I don’t care who you are, you always need a healthy dose of sunshine pop/country once in a while. This EP by Jessica Martindale is quite a good 25 minute detour from your busy life out to a carefree sunny Saturday summer afternoon. This album is just enough country to let you know that it is from Nashville but it is pop at its core. It is not an innovative record so much as just a formulaic replication of something that is good. Saying that, it is put together very nicely, enough to be comparable to big artists.
