Americuba is an album featuring various Cuban artists fusing American pop songs with Cuban stylings. It's really good. They are able to make the songs into something new, instead of just playing over the original tracks. Sometimes the Cuban stylings alter the entire feel of the song. For example, Sittin On the Dock of the Bay usually comes across as wistful and regretful. The cover of it on this album makes it sound wistful and triumphant in an "I can overcome this," kind of way.

This album was recorded during a period where the band was staying in Port Antonio, Jamaica, and it immediately shows. This is a standard Thievery Corporation album with heavy reggae influences. The Temple of I and I has the same Thievery Corporaiton loungey ambiance of their prior records, and the dancehall influences make this overwhelmingly chill. If you are a Thievery Corporation fan, you will like this record. Newcomers will probably enjoy it as well, as it is more accessible than some of their prior work.

Leti Garza's new album, El Unico Para Mi, is a blend of super rhythmic Latin sounds. There is cumbia, merengue, and even some salsa vibes on this album. There are 10 songs on the album and each song has a 40s / 50s Latin music sound involved. Essentially this reminds me of something I would listen to and dance with my mom in the kitchen.

This album has an island flare to it but it is really funky and groovy. Its a great dance album and just a fun listen. Nacional Records never ceases to impress and I would recommend this album to anyone. As the album progresses, it changes from island and reggae to hip-hop and funk. The island portion of the album is super fun to dance to and perfect for a world show, while the hip-hop portion would be perfect for a hip-hop show as long as one got over the interesting beat and rough, yet not aggressive, vocals.

Compass is a fun project between Camilo Lara and Toy Selectah, their collaboration has produced a mix of pop, jazz, latin, and hip-hop influences into one album. It starts with with some poppy, upbeat tunes featuring female vocals and dancing vibes. Track 4 is one of my favorites as it takes on a more synth-y, reggae-like approach towards the production. Meanwhile towards the end of the album, track 10: La Llama is a slower, soulful jam with dancing keys and a strong beat.

A Caribbean, Hip Hop Reggae Latin Dance Album. Super Soulful multi-lingual jam band. Really beautifully composed mixture of rap lyrics, drums, electronically enhanced keyboard and synths, sax, trombone and more. There are three different mixers so the album has a variety of vibes and sounds which go from traditional Caribbean style dance music to classic Jamaican reggae, rap and hip hop and then newer reggae like the California style reggae (such as slightly stupid or sublime ). If you like Damien Marely, Pepper, Iration, or The green you should check out this album.

iLe has a beautiful voice on this album and honestly I could listen to this for hours. The album is romantic and reminiscent of another time period. I feel like the beauty of this album is only increased if you speak Spanish. Unfortunately I don’t speak the language but the beauty and care that was put into this album was not lost on me. This whole album is beautiful and romantic and perfect for any world or jazz show. The only song I wouldn’t play on air is the last track because it has about 30 seconds of white noise at the end. But otherwise this is an amazing album.

Centavrvs is a pretty cool album that mixes modern music with the rhythms and melodies of ancient Mexico. Led by female vocals Centavrvs is an album that aims to "celebrate their identy as Latinos and as citizens of the world." Most of the music is pretty upbeat, utilizing everything from traditional Mexican Instruments to funky electronic tones to accelerated crescendos. 5 Por Eso is a melodramatic dance track thats fun to listen to. 1 La Noche y Un Huracan delivers a big chorus and is a pretty "feels" song.

Cristobal and the Sea is a cool little band coming out of London. There second album, Sugar Now is a pretty fun sounding record. I found that it fit in well with the alt genre although it was different from anything that I've heard before. I really enjoyed the latin influence displayed throughout the album. The album is really fluid and driven by a solid melody. There are not too many computerized effects and the band seems to really rely on the instruments. I think that the album is really fun to listen to and would be great for most alt shows.
