This is the mutant, yet euphonious lovechild of The National, The Black Keys, and strangely enough, The Doors. Not only does this mish-mosh of genres work, it works well. Husband’s sound is perfectly appropriate for listening as you go for a long run to get out of your own mind and into somebody else’s. It is equally appropriate for putting on whilst laying on your bed contemplating your life choices and possibly even your own mortality. Each track has a strong beat backing slower than normal alt-rock tempos that keeps the listener engaged in the sound.

The first thing that hit me was how much this Irishman sounds like Bob Dylan, but it wasn't a bad thing. He sounds pretty good on this album and the guitar work is definitely a throwback to the 60s, but draws on modern pacing and energy. The album is at times solemn and introspective with lonesome acoustic guitar, but upbeat and happy on other tracks. Overall a good album with lots of excellent textures and tones.
