Minnesota rapper Prof has been around since the early 2000’s.  Over the span of his career, Prof has released three studio albums, with his third being the recently released Pookie Baby. Pookie Baby Is interesting, but it never really hooked me throughout my multiple listens. There were a few stand out tracks like “Light Work” and “Time Bomb” which sound like your classic 2018 rap songs, but most of this album really just didn’t do it for me. My main criticism with this album is some of the tracks just come off as edgy and immature. A great example of this comes from the track titled “Send Nudes” which is literally just about wanting a girl to send him nudes in the middle of the night. Deep. I really am usually pretty easy going with stuff like this, but this track is just really not good. There is a way to rap about immature/goofy things and get away with it. Prof just needs to take a page out of Slim Shady’s book.

There honestly isn’t much more for me to say about this album. I guess some of the beats are interesting and unique, but that really can’t save Pookie Baby. With all the rap content that has been produced already this year, I really see this album honestly just being forgotten about. If I were to rate this album on a scale from 1-10, I would give this a 6/10.
