Uranium Club is a punk band from Minnesota and they bring a punchy energy to this live album that was recorded in Italy. In recent months, I have found several excellent bands that have originated from Minnesota; this includes both contemporary bands like Remo Drive, and Hippo Campus, and other bands like Dillinger Four and Hüsker Dü. The concurrent theme being unique and solid punk bands stem from Minnesota, however I don’t know if there is a correlation. Uranium Club isn’t breaking any ground with this live album though. The live recording provides an interesting sound that I can best relate to a house show, however the maladroit recording makes the lyrics almost entirely incoherent and overall sound muddled and tinny. However, that’s not say this album isn’t entertaining. This record is loud, percussive, aggressive, and eccentric. Going back to the “house show vibe” emanating from this album, this generates a tangible energy which is arguably the records strongest quality. If you are into underground, gritty, oddball punk then this is the record for you, especially if you enjoy live recordings. However, overall the album is largely unmemorable apart from a few quirky moments in the way the songs sound and crowd-band interactions.
