Raise Your Expectations

I did not know what to expect out of this new Animotion album, but I have to say I was pleasantly surprised. The vocals have a kind of "static" sound as if they are from a long time ago, but the sounds are all very modern. The rock and pop is mixed with a lot of electronic elements making all the songs very unique. It kind of makes me think of a futuristic version of an 80's band (I'm imagining the band members wearing bell-bottoms, slicked hair and laser visors...).

There is a wide variety of songs on the album as well. In addition to the rock vibe, I like Track 3's ballad-style sound (it reminds me a bit of a Katy Perry song...maybe a slow version of 'Firework'). Animotion seems to have the sound of other modern pop artists as well ( I got a Lady Gaga vibe in Track 4--it's an interesting song. Definitely give the lyrics a listen--it's about how they got their 'reputation'.) Going back to the different styles incorporated into the album, Track 5 is heavily orchestral based rather than rock-band-esque while may of other songs (Track 6 and 11) have strong EDM influences. Overall, a very diverse album that would cater to a wide audience. You'll definitely find a song you like no matter your music preference.
