Earth at Club Congress

Acts:
Earth
Acts:
True Widow
Concert Date:
Tue, 05/12/2015
Location:
Club Congress

On their first ever trip to Tucson, Earth graced us desert rats with one of the most prolific doom/drone shows this city has ever seen. The night started off with Dallas band, True Widow, who I admittedly had never listened to prior to the show. I immediately fell in love with their heavy, stoner-shoegaze type of rock. It really set the cerebral type of mood for the rest of the night.

Acts:
Ben O'Brien
Concert Date:
Tue, 04/28/2015

Last Tuesday, I got the chance to see Dan Deacon perform at the Crescent Ballroom. Opening for him were Ben O'Brien, a self-appointed "spiritual guru, cult leader, and Christ figure," and Prince Rama, the "now age" sister duo of Taraka and Nimai Larson with touring keyboardist Sasha Lord. Between these three acts, I got to experience the funnest and most bizarre show I've seen at the Crescent Ballroom.

Acts:
Pepper
Acts:
The Pretty Reckless
Acts:
Hell Yeah
Acts:
Big Data
Concert Date:

Location:
Kino Veterans Memorial Stadium

KFMA Day is an always hyped sensation in Tucson, and this year was no exception. With Five Finger headlining, it was expected to be a fantastic performance. Starting at the beginning, there were some pretty terrible opener bands, but lets be honest - that's why they're opener bands. But to their credit these bands won battle of the bands at the Rock so they had to be decent. Meg Meyers was the first official "big band", unfortunetely, she got sick and was hospitalized in Phoenix so she didn't make it.

It Follows (Film)

Acts:
Director: David Robert Mitchell
Acts:
Maika Monroe
Acts:
Keir Gilchrist
Concert Date:
Fri, 03/27/2015
Location:
USA

Rating: R

The phrase “hipster horror” isn’t exactly one that whets the appetite for the horror-lovers of the world. It Follows is hardly a hipster film, save for the characters themselves and the fact that it is an independent film. Okay, fine. It’s 100% hipster, and I loved it. If you enjoy suspense and want to be thoroughly creeped out, then this spooky twist on the horror genre is for you.
