Labeled "A Happening That Will Awaken Your Darkest Senses", Slipknot's Knofest was the one of the landmarks of metal music as a whole. Of the metal festivals of the world, Knotfest was one of the largest single-venue metal festival that the United States has ever seen, attracting an approximated 50,000 fans on day one, and almost 60,000 fans on day two. These numbers approach even the largest metal festivals worldwide, the largest being Wacken Open Air in Germany, which attracts about 80,000 fans a year.

Southwest Terror Fest Interview with Danny Marshall of Baptists

I sat down with guitarist Danny Marshall of Baptists after the final day of Southwest Terror Fest. Their new album, Bloodmines, just recently released and seeing them perform this new material live was definitely a highlight of the fest (seriously - don't miss your chance to see these guys live). Danny and I discussed their new album, touring, other side projects, and much more.

Southwest Terror Fest Interview with Trevor de Brauw of Pelican

I got the chance to sit down with Trevor de Brauw before Pelican's set for Southwest Terror Fest on October 16th. We discussed their latest live album, effects of globalization, ideas of life and death, what's next for the band, and much more. I should also mention that their set was absolutely phenomenal, but that's a whole review in and of itself. Below is the transcribed version of the interview.

Social Distortion

Acts:
Stone Foxes
Concert Date:
Mon, 10/06/2014
Location:
Rialto

On Monday October 6, 2014, when we first arrived during Stone Foxes set, the audience seem to be more of a istening crowd. A crowd of all ages, Tucson high schoolers accompanied with there parents, all excited for the same show. The opening band, Stone Foxes, give the typical bay area vibe, rock hard jamming rock guys. You know of the one man band, but this an all man band. Consistenly changing positions and instruments throughout their set the members were and entertainment and music package. In all, the Stone Foxes were a great prelude of what was to come next in the evening.

Cardic Cats finally experience heartache

This game was like many before it, Arizona struggled early but capitalized on some big plays late in the game and finished strong. Unfortunately their strong finish last night came up just short against a very tough and talented USC team. In fact it came up wide right, as kicker Casey Skowron pushed a last second field goal wide right effectively ending the game with a final score of 28-26.

Club Congress

Club Congress was full of the young and the restless this past Saturday night, and they were treated with great performances by two California-based groups who didn't disappoint. The show was kicked off by Night Riots, a punk-pop group whose image definitely doesn't match their sound. Dressed in all black with cutoff jean vests and dyed black hair, I was expect some grungy garage rock or at least some solid punk. However, what I got was a great surprise--very current-sounding alternative pop, with a Brandon Flowers soundalike as a lead vocalist.
